Art Club

ART CLUB

The art club aims to develop visual literate students, they will be able to observe, understand and make meaning of what they see. They will be able to communicate their ideas by using and creating visuals. We want them to be able to see the value and recognise the relevance of art in their lives.

Students will be exposed to various art forms and mediums such as drawing, painting, mixed media, clay and craft. Through the inquiry based learning process, students will gain a better understanding of art concepts and ideas. 

Students will be exposed to different art styles, artists and art movements through visits to art galleries and museums.

Learning Outcomes

Overall
-To motivate continual self-practice and further exploration
-To acquire skills, language and confidence to identify valuable exploration
-To experience personal expression through process and actions instead of polished artwork
-To experience the setting up an exhibition (curating process)

2D Art
-To increase the competency of drawing through the development of observational skills

Painting
-To apply various painting techniques appropriately and effectively
-To have competent knowledge of judging colour temperature and mixing of colours
-To control and tweak various elements at each stage of the painting process

3D Art
-To explore the relationship between 2D and 3D artworks
-To create 3D sculptures using simple materials placing emphasis on the creative processes
-To investigate formal, functional, and conceptual issues while developing effective material choices, construction methods, craftsmanship, and safe studio working habits.
-To consider issues such as sustainable materials and reuse, and how objects function in the world. 
-To have a better understanding of materials and better control over the outcomes
